The Making of Modern Fire Pottery
Welcome to my shop! My name is Jessie and I design and make every piece you see here. I've been doing ceramics for almost a decade and a half. I first learned from an art therapist when I was a teen who was helping me get through some mental health issues. I quickly fell in love with the craft and how it was helping me heal. Working with clay made me feel so grounded. There was nothing a bit of clay couldn't fix.
I worked as the ceramic teacher's assistant in high school, furthering my knowledge. I got my own kiln and wheel set up in my home studio and created my first business, Jessie's Ceramics.
When it was time to graduate high school, I had to make the decision if I was going to make a career out of pottery. I was worried I'd be a starving artist and that fear drove me to go to college for accounting.
I let go of my passion for pottery and "grew up" like I thought I was supposed to. I worked in an accounting firm, which stole my spark and creativity.
Health issues led me to re-evaluate my life. I wasn't happy, I was drained of life, and I had no time or energy to do the things I loved.
I decided to leave that job. With little plan. I made the big scary step. I needed to get back to doing the things I loved. I ordered a kiln and a wheel and set up a home studio. Working with clay helped me heal once again. It brought me back to life and brought Modern Fire Pottery into existence.
Now I work for myself, making my heart happy every day and bringing beautiful, timeless pottery into your homes.
Thank you for being here along for the journey.

FAQs
Do you take custom orders?
I take custom orders on a case-by-case basis. If you have an idea that you'd like me to bring to fruition, please contact me via the contact form above.
When will my order be shipped?
Most pieces are made to order and take 3-5 weeks to ship.
Do you use sustainable packaging materials?
I first use re-used packaging materials from supply orders I receive or materials donated from customers like you! Sometimes that includes non-recyclable items like styrofoam packing peanuts and bubble wrap, or messier packaging materials like shredded cardboard. All other orders are packaged with paper honeycomb wrap and starch peanuts that dissolve under water.
